Why Politicians Doesn't Deserve My Time
Yesterday, Chelsea Clinton visited OWU.
Here's why politicians are stupid:
1) They are never on time. I don't want my president being a snobby jerk and thumbing his/her late nose at other leaders. If he/she is late, they should be locked out of the meeting.
2) Being president is a job. If I were late for my job, I would be reprimanded and if I made a habit of it, I would be fired. If a doctor is late for surgery, a person dies. If a businessman is late for a meeting, thousands of dollars is lost. I'm not asking for perfection, I'm asking for promptness. Thirty minutes is inexcusable.
3) In all honesty, I didn't go to Bishop Cafe to see her. I went there to get lunch, like I do every day. Guy at the door, almost didn't let me in. He wanted me to sign some volunteer paper to get in. I didn't sign and went in anyway. Politicians are pushy.
4) By her being late, I missed her entire speech because I had to go work. Thank goodness one of us was being responsible. I know numerous people who missed class. Education rules over politician any day. It would have been sweet justice if everybody had left to go to class and she had no one to talk to because she was late. Oh well justice. Your powers baffle and amaze at the same time.
So, why don't politicians deserve my time? Because they don't give me any of theres.

chelsea clinton came??? thats really cool. i wish my school was more politically active.
plus, if it were me, i'd miss a class over a political discussion in a heartbeat. class happens every day. this happens once in a lifetime. plus, an educated voter is a good voter.
yep, chelsea clinton came. OWU is a very politically aware place.
this year we had a mock convention that lasted two days (if you'd like to read more Hasaniowu wrote a whole blog about it). stimulated by the mock convention decision groups for obama are forming. the students also have access to free newspapers (the New York Time, the Columbus Dispatch, and the USA Today).
we also have college democrats and I'm pretty sure we have college republicans.
and majority of our student body does vote.
thanks so much for reading and drop me a comment if you have any questions.
That post was so odd I am surprised I am even responding to it. I didn't see a single substantive comment or critique regarding where Clinton stands on the issues or contrast with the other candidates. Now, that would be much more interesting to read that what you had.
She was late, so? How do you even know what was the reason was? Maybe it was something perfectly legitimate.
I think you needn't stoop so low as to attack a girl (she is not even a politician, at least not explicitly so) on the superficial grounds of her being late. People at OWU should be proud and humbled that people of that stature are visiting us.
Please don't misconstrue my ideals as representative of OWU. I am one person on a campus of 2000 and I know that there were many people excited about her visit. Hence the use of "my" in the title.
And in MY opinion late doesn't cut it. I understand that sometimes late can't be helped, but the excuse given was Delaware traffic . . . its kind of like an oxymoron.
I also do not believe I attacked anyone. The post was written in humor about timeliness, hence the use of "time" in the title.
I also believe that she is a politician because she is giving speeches on her mother's behalf, on political matters.
Thanks for reading and commenting on my odd post.
You don't have to be defensive about it. The very title has a typo. But that's probably some sort of high-end sarcasm, too? Also, if you clearly call her a politician (as you did) and say "Here's why politicians are stupid" are we not to interpret that you are implying she is stupid. I am confused. Fine, you call Chelsea Clinton stupid for the most bizarre reason...if you actually brought up one substantive issue in the post, it would have been more interesting. It seems you were just bored and decided to post something but didn't really think much before doing so.
If the humor and irony is too much for you then it is your loss dear reader.
Isn't it amazing that some people would base their political decisions on something as stupid as being late? Isn't it amazing how passionate politics make us?
I wrote something in jest to address an issue of lateness but to also to give an example of how easily people shift views. Some people would not vote over and issue like this. Some people would shift candidates immediately for something like this. I was put out by her lateness, but the post itself is meant for enjoyment only. If I'd truly wanted to offend I would have picked a more offensive word than "stupid".
Also, the typo in the title is just that, a typo. I re-read my post and realized it was littered with them. That seems to be a theme throughout the entire blog.
"Isn't it amazing that some people would base their political decisions on something as stupid as being late?"
Well, yes. Some people do. You are getting a college education to overlook the things that don't matter and focus on the things that do. Come on. There are so many more important things that distinguish one politician from another. And then there is minutae.
I greatly appreciate sarcasm, it is just that I appreciate it when it is subtle.
I agree with you. Basing your political decisions on being late is stupid. My post made a mockery of it. I used 'my' because nobody knows who 'Jane' or 'Bob' is.
I suppose we'll blame this post's failure on being a young writer.
I appreciate your comments and look forward to more banters in the future.
