Friends,
I have a glorious few years with you and I hope you've enjoyed my company, but it's moving day. OWU is doing their best to update the technology and we will be opening up a new blog soon, soon, soon. Actually I've already posted to it. Check us out at our new location: http://bishopbytes.blogspot.com/

Job job two
Readers,
So, I believe in an earlier post I updated you as to my grad. school adventures. Well, I still have not heard back, so plan A is still running. What is also up and running is plan B. I got a job! I got a job selling wedding gowns! Random, yet wonderful. It's always interesting when your plan B (that was really just fluke application) takes off before you plan A (which is what you really want to happen.)
Ugh, I am just so busy now. With school, It's like I'm working three jobs. My head is enough above water so I can breathe (last week it was not that way) and I'm treading all right. Looking forward to spring break in a week (not that I'm going anywhere with work both weekends) but it will be a great way to get my portfolio finished. Days upon days of uninterrupted work time; honestly, I'm kinda excited.
Have a great one.

Abhorrent Honesty
Friends,
I am frustrated. I am taking a non-fiction writing class at present and all was good until my professor called on me to comment about a book that I had no time to finish nor had any interest in finishing. And so I told my professor just that. I told my professor that it took me one hour to read twenty pages and that I did not have six hours to dedicate to the book (I do in fact have other classes). I told my professor that also, the book was uninteresting to me and so it made me even less encouraged to finish it.
Apparently my honesty was not appreciated in a class on a genre that was built on being honest. Ironic, I think so.
I will say this: I never made the decision to not finish because I disrespect my professor (though perhaps my actions unconsciously did so). I do. I never made the decision not to finish because I'm lazy (actually I'm quite busy and the decision was made to keep my sanity, which, in all honesty, is starting to fail (oops, honest again.)) And finally, in a workshop class, I want to workshop. I will read my contemporaries before I read authors who have made their place in history because I believe that in workshop, your job is to make your peers and yourself a better writer. If the goal of this workshop is to get me to read pieces by people who I can not critique, then perhaps the name should be changed from non-fiction writing workshop to non-fiction exploration.

Leaky Snow
My ceiling is leaking. First it was the tub chronicles and now, my ceiling is leaking.
You know, I always told Phoebe I would get her a fountain so she didn't have to be in the sink . . . but I never planned to have that fountain start at my ceiling and run down my wall and puddle on the floor. It's not even a good fountain. Good fountains recycle. Though it is kind of slum-chic.
Ugh. The maintenance man says that it's because of the snow and the cold and frozen gutters, which I get, but if this water doesn't stop, I'm thinking serious mold issue plus water damage to ceiling, wall, and wood floors. Want to know what else sucks? The real problem is the roof and the roof can't get fixed until the snow is gone . . . it's currently snowing.
Perhaps there are some perks to living in the dorms; aka you don't have be an adult and deal with a leaky ceiling yet.
On a happy note, my birthday is in a week. Woot birthday!
Have a great one.
